She / Her / Hers
Community means feeling accepted and supported exactly as you are in a shared space with people you identify with. It means social visibility while negotiating your authentic self in other arenas of your life. Trying to figure out where you fit in with yourself while having a space where others are doing the same, in a space where you can feel held and safe. Community is love when other spaces in the world feel cold.
If you're struggling with your gender and/or sexual identity: Be patient with yourself, be gentle with yourself. Your true self blossoms over time, it’s like peeling an onion: pulling back each layer is tedious but for each layer peeled the truest essence of you emerges.
If you feel like you are unable to be your authentic self right now, at this moment: Keep yourself safe at all times. This time is temporary and it gets better. These circumstances will not always be your reality. Find safe spaces to be in the meantime and create your support network to help you through it.
If you may be experiencing bullying, peer pressure or force because you are queer:Speak up but only if your safety will not be compromised by doing so. Find your allies, seek support, seek help. It will never stop if we stay silent! Try to get out of whatever situation compromises your happiness, NOBODY is worth your happiness.
