Community, to me, means finding your people. Your crew. People that empathize with you and feel “at home”. Bringing together people of all different kinds (shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds) but also allowing an inclusive space for one another.
If you struggle with your gender or sexual identity, if you feel like you cannot be your authentic self, or if you experience bullying or peer pressure because you are queer: Find someone to can trust or find community. Feeling safe is a very important factor, and each person should adapt advice to their particular situation. Whether your community is online, in-person, or with a trusted friend, family member, guidance counselor, etc. Communicate to them in your best way of communicating what you are experiencing and hopefully they will be able to guide you and provide resources. See where the nearest LGBTQ+ center or community gatherings. If not, look into online communities, local events or meet ups, hotlines, blogs, podcasts and books.
